She attended Professional Children’s School and The High School of Music & Art. After that, she took training at the School of American Ballet and later at the Actors Studio.

She began her career as a ballet dancer, training at the School of American Ballet. She appeared as Scarlett O’Hara in the Los Angeles production of the musical She rose to fame after she depicted the title role of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s television special Cinderella in 1965.
